If you're making 3D STL files, you'll want to be using Union, Subtract and Intersection. It's not necessary and involves cleaning up the final character colorwise, but it works OK. ) - If you change the color of the middles before extruding them, they are easier to see and delete later. Now, one tip - you will need to use BOOLEAN SUBTRACT function to remove the middle of characters ( eg, A, O, D, Q, B, P have holes in them. Now select the whole part and EXTRUDE and you have 3D text ( you can only do this on exploded text. Now, select the text you placed, and it will turn into parts of the model, with each individual character separate. It will show up in the command window as you type. Make sure you're not in the middle of another function or command and just type it in. There is a command that converts the text to a surface that can be extruded. You can also click on the text icon next to style when adjusting sEttings ( hit E key after running text command ) and you can change the font and other stuff. Height, etc, are according to your base units, eg, millimeters. eg, DRAW>TEXT or you can use commands like TEXT Perhaps Klaus can offer some advice on that?Īnyway, simple text is not too hard. At worst, you'll end up with models crashing later and locking up the application. At best it usually crashes out on the command with an error and misses bits. I wouldn't recommend that - importing CorelDRAW objects for 3D work doesn't work so well.
